Online News CompositeThe final leg of the spring Online News series, co-sponsored by PRNDI and Public Media Metrics, took place on Friday in the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.

News Directors from around the country spent a full day of small and large-group sessions, examining strategic as well as very practical issues involved in upgrading the current set of station-based online news services.

The day began with a keynote delivered by Kinsey Wilson, Sr. VP and General Manager of Digital Media at NPR and Ellen Weiss, Sr. VP for News at NPR. They were followed by Mark Fuerst, CEO of Public Media Metrics, who presented a two-hour review of strategic, financial, design, technical issues that have surfaced over the last half-decade of experimentation with online news in public radio.  Mark's presentation can be downloaded here or from the Documents and Download section of the PMM site.  The series of sessions ended with a Mike Marcotte, former News Director at KPBS, San Diego, providing a two-hour session of practical solutions and suggestions for implementing digital news initiatives.
